Tempered Glass Mosaic (1-day class) with Carol Shelkin

Description: Learn how to create glittering art by mixing collage with mosaic techniques using Tempered Glass, also known as safety glass and crash glass. Tempered glass may be used to create beautiful art as well as architectural installations. Instruction will be given for both interior installations and exterior installations to develop a jewel like surface. A PowerPoint presentation showing examples of some of the finest works in 3D and 2D Carol Shelkin tempered glass sample will be shown. Lots of one-on-one time is offered along with group discussions. Each student will begin a mosaic pieces using an overlaying technique with metallic papers, tissues, foils, glitter, Mylar and MUCH more. Each student is encouraged to bring a variety of small paper images, photos, poetry or text to include in their mosaic. This is the perfect medium to permanently incorporate printed imagery and have your treasures underneath revealed through the glass.
Works will not be grouted during the workshop. A demonstration will be given and grouting can be completed on your own.

About the Instructor: Carol Sheklin
Carol Shelkin, a visual artist is creating contemporary, fine art, original and intricate mosaic designs that eminent care and attention to detail with hand cut, high quality stained glass and other glass materials.
Taking to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon, she started attending Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia at seven years old. It was made clear at a young age that her life would be centered on her passion for art.
She continued her artistic direction with studies at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and studied under mosaic masters in Ravenna, Italy. As an art teacher, she continue creating and teaching pottery, painting and mosaics after closing her arts nursery school and settling in mosaic art about 15 years ago. Carol is a founding member and past president of the Mosaic Society of Philadelphia, Master Artisan with the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and founder of Mosaic Art Retreats and Tours Worldwide. She continues to take travelers to mosaic art retreats in such places as Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Morocco and France.

- Full Refund - 30 days prior to the class or workshop minus a $50 processing fee.
