Decorative Mosaic Gourd Workshop with Donna Van Hooser (3 days)
Date: Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, 2026 - Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Hours: 10am – 5pm with a one-hour lunch break

Description: In this workshop, we will use a variety of materials and adhesives
to mosaic a small natural gourd. The focus of the class will be how
to translate two dimensional mosaic techniques to a three dimensional surface in a decorative manner. A gourd will be provided, as well as a wide assortment of beads, stained glass, tiles, and other interesting bits.
Precision glass cutting and andamento will be covered, as well as dealing with materials of different thickness.
Students are welcome and encouraged to bring any special materials
you may want to use in addition to what is provided. The gourd sizes will be approx. 5-6 inches in diameter, there will be cut gourds/vessels available as well as whole stemmed gourds.
Tools and materials will be provided. We will also be making a
pool noodle "cradle" as a support to the gourds while working on them.
All provided gourds will be prepared ahead of time, but gourd cutting, cleaning and preparing will be demonstrated in class.

I love working in mosaic, especially dealing with the challenges and limitations of the materials. The glass must be carefully chosen from a limited palette, since colors cannot be mixed, and each piece must serve as an individual brush stroke working in harmony with the surrounding pieces.

- Full Refund - 30 days prior to the class or workshop minus a $50 processing fee.
- No Refunds - within 30 days of the workshop unless we can fill your space minus a $50 processing fee.
