Description: In this workshop we will be making an address, name or initials sign. On day 1, the first Saturday, we will roll out some clay, create your letters or numbers and some additional clay tiles that you will use to decorate the sign. I will have texture rollers, cookie cutters and sprig molds to help you create your decorative tiles. You will get to keep any extra tiles you make. You will make extra incase some don't turn out the way you hoped.
Day 2 , Sunday, we will glaze the tiles you made.
During the week the tiles will get fired and you will come back the following weekend to put it all together.
On Day 3 & 4, Saturday and Sunday, you will learn how to prepare your board for outdoor use and you will build your mosaic sign using the handmade tiles you created, along with other ceramic tiles. We will be using thinset to adhere the tiles, so you will be able to put the sign outside. We will build the sign on Sat and then grout the pieces on Sunday. If you can't come on Sunday or don't finish your piece in time to grout, I can send you home with grout and email you an instructional video on how to grout it.

About the Instructor: Cherie Bosela
Cherie has been creating art since she was a kid (sometimes to the detriment of her parents’ furniture and walls). She learned photography from her dad and took her first photography class in high school. Then continued with the medium all through college. She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Art. During college, she learned about Antoni Gaudí, an architect who used mosaic in his work throughout Barcelona, Spain, she knew right away this was what she wanted to do. The very first mosaic she made was from a kit, and it ended up in the garbage. Not happy with her results, she bought a few books about mosaics and started playing around with different types of tesserae. Then she started playing with her photography under the glass. She has been creating mosaics since 2000.
Her artwork has been included in exhibits at The Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA, 1st Thursdays at the Orlando Museum of Art, Mayor’s Gallery in Orlando’s City Hall, BSA Space in Boston and The Parthenon in Nashville, just to name a few. And you can also see her at several of the local art festivals. She has won several awards for her mosaic artwork.
