We will show you some tips for mixing and applying the thinset adhesive to attach the tesserae onto the reinforced base and the curved surface of the shape. You will work with a variety of materials including glass, nuggets, beads, and rods. A grouting demo on a small sculptural piece will be also be provided. About the Instructor: Wesley Wong

www.glasstastique.com

Wesley has had an interest in art since he was young.  He took many art classes in high  school and college, but graduated from University of California at Santa Barbara with a  degree in computer science. He took a stained glass class in the early 1980s from a  local stained glass shop owner and discovered that stained glass was the ideal medium  for his creative juices. This eventually lead him into mosaics and fused glass. His work features lots of bright colors and intricate patterns and has been exhibited in many  juried glass and mosaic shows throughout the United States. After 34 years in the high  technology world, Wesley took an early retirement to focus on his passion for glass art. Wesley has had the opportunity to be trained by many master mosaic artists including  Laurel True, Emma Biggs, Lynne Chinn, and Martin Cheek.

Wesley enjoys sharing his glass knowledge with other artists and teaches glass workshops through his studio, at the Stained Glass Garden in Berkeley, CA., and at the annual  glass expo in Las Vegas. Wesley is a regular contributor to the Glass Patterns Quarterly  magazine, and is a member of the Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists (ASGLA),  Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA), and Contemporary Mosaic Artists (CMA).
